BT are the UK's biggest broadband supplier with over six million customers. They offer a complete range of services, with standard and fibre broadband, phone, TV and mobile. BT have the largest broadband network, covering over 95% of homes, and it's available in all but the most remote rural areas at the same price as it is in towns and cities.

NOW Broadband are primarily known for their streaming TV bundles, providing Sky TV that customers want without the hassle of a contract. They're now branching out into the broadband market, offering the same contract free broadband for both standard ADSL and Fibre products.

Plusnet

Plusnet have been in business since 1997 and have established themselves as offering some of the best customer support in the marketplace. Plusnet offer some of the cheapest entry level broadband deals available yet also offer premium deals aimed at specialist broadband users such as gamers. Plusnet offer broadband, phone and fibre optic deals. A little known fact is that they are owned by BT.

Sky

Sky are one of the largest UK broadband providers and are particularly competitive, particularly when combining them with TV and phone services. Sky operate their own growing LLU network and also offer fibre optic broadband over the Openreach fibre optic network. Sky are less competitive for the minority of customers who live in areas not served by their own network.

TalkTalk

TalkTalk are one of the UK's biggest broadband providers as well as one of the cheapest. TalkTalk offer a complete range of broadband, phone and TV packages, they own and operate their own Local Loop Unbundled (LLU) network as well as providing fibre optic deals with speeds averaging as much as 63Mb. TalkTalk have grown significantly over recent years by buying up other broadband suppliers such as Tiscali.

Virgin Media

Virgin Media are unique in the UK in owning and operating their own fibre optic network which is available to around half the UK population. Virgin are well known for pushing the boundaries of broadband speeds and have regularly topped the broadband speed charts and offer top speeds averaging 516Mb.

Vodafone

Well-known as a mobile phone and broadband provider, Vodafone have branched out into the home broadband market with fibre-to-the-cabinet packages available.
