Can rightfully described as the worst broadband provider on the planet. Waited 3 weeks for new installation at my mother's house. The engineer installed it but said the ones who installed lighstream cabling outside had not fitted it right. Said it wasn't his problem so left it not working and said outside team would fix it whenever. This is my mother's first experience with kc broadband and it can best be described has atrocious.

Disgust of a company. How dare they advertise an average of 14mbps for may area yet give us under 1mbps! They have delayed Lighstream a number of times (I know technical problems are inevitable, but KCOM continuously let customers down). 4
Their customer service isn't any better! They assured me I was guaranteed to get the advertised speed, even though I have provided them evidence I don't even get 1/10 of that!

Absolute disgrace. I pay £36.00 a month for a download speed of 2.64 mbps, more than 17 mbps below the national average. I actually have found that I have resorted to using my phones 3G instead of broadband at home because it is much faster. Unable to even choose a different company as there is no competition to them in Hull. They should be shut down.

Shocking service. Speeds are horrific. On phone and PC, it takes up to 3 minutes for pages to load, youtube buffers for 2-5 minutes at a time, horrific pings during gaming, customer service is alright as the staff are nice, but nothing ever gets solved. The speed is 10mbps but it seems more like 3.

You are very restricted in Hull with what ISP you can go with. KCOM is the main ISP in Hull and it has been that way for a very long time. But, things need to change because KCOM are absolute trash. I have lived in Hull nearly my entire life and we have always struggled with poor service from KCOM, but have never been able to switch because of the monopoly KCOM play. Need internet? KCOM is basically your only option, or satellite broadband with long waiting times and expensive installation fees and most of the time high ping.
Without Lightstream (which is not available in all parts of Hull yet), you can't even get an upload speed averaging 1mb/s which makes it near impossible if you wish to stream games online. Let me add by saying you can expect 10mb/s download speed on a GOOD day (and that is on a cable connection, not Wi-Fi). I have called KCOM several times to enquire why my Wi-Fi connection is so bad and they put it down to the distance between device and router, which is complete bull because I live in an extremely small flat with paper thin walls, so the signal should not be a problem at all.
Even on a cabled connection I still struggle to download and stream. At most I can download things at 1-2mb/s, it takes a RIDICULOUS amount of time to download large games so I often have to leave my PC on overnight to let it download.
My sister and her partner have Lightstream and Netflix STILL buffers for them. I can't even say that maybe it is so bad because there are a lot of devices connected to the router because there isn't.
KCOM is awful. Extortionate prices for extremely slow and frustrating download and upload speeds; even on Lightstream. Please, if you can save yourself the hassle and stress and AVOID this TRASH company.
Other ISPs if you are reading this, please battle KCOM and start offering your service, take over the phone lines in Hull; we all need you!!!

If you could have half stars it would all be that but trying to run anything with more than 2 people at a time is so slow it will even cut off connection ties with devices and you can always reliey on it to cut off at times of need, whoever own these are solid criminals

the broadband works most of the time, and turns off at least 3-5 times a day. sometimes it goes off for hours and we have to wait for it to come back on. I play on an xbox one and most of my games lag due to poor speeds. I get on average 1.5 mbps but it has dropped to 20 kbs and under. I also have a lot of latency. I hope the lightstream solves some of these problems.

KKOM will not let me down grade my broadband package unless I sign a 24 month contract for the lower price. They are also charging me an extra 3 pounds a month because I refuse to sign a 24 month contract. I am waiting for Grain a new provider so I can change from KKOM which is very expensive !!

After the second time of waiting 5 hours next to the door for an engineer to arrive I am now £240 out of pocket and 4 weeks without Internet. No leaflet through the door,no missed calls.
When I say they never turned up customer services don't believe me. I am tired of this.

I have had lightstream broadband installed on the 21st October 2019.I was asked what was a streaming ie netflix.because the problem is I am not streaming anything more than before in fact I am streaming less then I was before.38% youtube in 30-40 minutes has used around 1.2 to 1.3 gigabyte.What I streamed before on the standard package was no were near

Absolutely disgusting company. Clearly states on the website if you cancel early you get charged 50% of the remaining contract. This is disgusting but I understand. Now tbeyre trying to say my monthly bill is 25% than what I pay so I have to pay them nearly £300 for cancelling? No way I will be seeing a solicitor. AVOID at all costs, broadband speed is so slow and intermittent as well!

Worst customer service ever! 10 months still not got my speed back to anywhere near it use to be before. Wasnt great in the first place! 2.9 mbps to 3.5 mbps down to 0.4 mbps and after 10 months kcom finaly give up and said ill have to wait for lightstream! KCom usual offer of credit and discount but no actual money refunded! No refund for past internet even though there was no speed at all. It is true when a company has the monopoly they take full advantage of its customers, over charge and give an apauling service at Hulls peoples expence! More people need to complain to the onbudsman and stop taking it from Kcom!

Lets just say its consistent. In a negative way. Looking for a monopoly themed internet provider, who abuses its power in hull? Well KCOM is here for you. I think through this review we can all excuse my verbal attack at KCOM, as humorously they cause mental breakdowns. People rely on their internet for social prosperity, financial and emotional. Well, these three aspects have been stripped from you by KCOM. Its terrible, and this review is coming from the more financially wealthy sector of hull.
Lets start with customer service. Theres music to drive you insane as you wait half an hour for a live call, only for the magic four magic words to come out the speakers mouth-"We'll get back to you." This is never the case. Their reply time is somewhere around 10 plus working days.

Fairly reliable compared to other providers, but what's the use in reliability with speeds 10x slower than competitor's.
Worst speed I've had is 1500ms ping from an ookla test. That's 1.5 SECONDS!
Overpriced for an awful service with no option to change from KCOM's monopoly. If I could, I'd change to another provider, but they'd have to use KCOM's awful infrastructure so the speeds would be the same if not slower. Customer service is okay but they can't fix the speed issue as it's a problem with KCOM's greed.
KCOM is holding back Hull to speeds acceptable 10 years ago.

Waited months to finally get fibre kept saying poles in wrong place etc so finally 3 1/2 behind launch day
We get it good for first week speed around 125 on 400 package only had 2 weeks and we are get 23 if we are lucky
Keep s dropping and losing connection even wired in n sat next to router it’s the same
Rung asking for explanation only to be told it’s a wireless cold spot in the house ( what my whole house )
Even wired sat next to router come on Kcom own up n tell us it’s a scam £60 month for 5 % of what we pay for
At least Dick Turpin wore a mask
This should be looked at by ofcom as this highway robbery can not go on much longer

Most terrible provider ever. Terrible customer service and the speed is a joke. Been waiting for an engineer for 2 weeks to fit a socket and he couldn't get an access to the DP box and told me that he will be able to come back next day. But when I spoke to KCOM team to explain the situation, they've booked the next appointment in another 2 weeks time!! And it's impossible to change the provider because of their contract and therefore i'm now stuck without any broadband for 4 weeks, and that's in the best case scenario because they've always seem to have some sort of one problem after another, and I can't even go to another provider. Try to avoid, it's not worth it.

Literally the worst broadband in the country. Monopoly power should be illegal, but KCOM wouldn't want that because they know they would immediately go out of business. They overcharge for a broadband that barely gives you internet access. Everyday I have to turn the router off at least 3 times a day because the connection is that unreliable. WHEN CAN WE HAVE MORE OPTIONS FOR BROADBAND SERVICES.

I changed from 6Mbps pre-Lightstream to 214Mbps with Lightstream and changed from HDD to SSD a year later, making my laptop feel faster than when new. I get about 70Mbps using wifi, which makes it pointless, except for phone and tablet. The only drop-outs I get are from the network adapter in my laptop. It's rarely ever a KCom problem. I'm very happy on all counts.

Horrendous business and the customer service is even worse. KCOM make the most simple task overwhelmingly complicated but the most traumatic experience was when I discovered they had charged me over £400.00 for a property that I moved out 6 months prior. Despite calling them and confirming in writing that I was moving out of an address, they failed to honour the cancellation and continued to bill me and take money out of my account. Businesses like KCOM prey on vulnerable customers and they get away with it because the likes of BT, Sky etc have not invested into Hull. KCOM should not exist as a business. Also an individual called Laura in accounts is abysmal at her job - she cannot answer a direct question, but worst of call, cannot explain a bill.

I was one of the first customers with Karoo . Yes the dial up and ADSL were problematic (like elsewhere) but the Lightstream (since 2014) is spot on. I can only remember one major outage when a switch blew up. 402 down 80 up. Spot on. People who complain about 'the wireless' need to realise that's their responsibility not Kcom's.

Amazing service, customer service are efficient and getting between 500-570mbps download 30mbps upload and a ping of 5-15ms on a hardwired Xbox, don’t know why everyone slags kc off we are leaps ahead of rest of country having direct fiber connections

KCOM Customer service is appalling, plus they are dishonest. I've had the same repeat bad service for products at high prices for over 17 years. Like many residents in the Hull area I have found there is little alternative to access broadband let alone fibre to door, so I've stuck with KCOM. It's got to the point now where I'm considering mobile broadband just so I can retain essential contact with banks, overseas relatives, etc. I refuse to pay the best part of £50 per month for atrocious products and service. I should think people in the Sahara or Gobi deserts have equivalent Internet access choices to residents in Hull...

Feel like I’m living in the era of dial up. Really slow, really unreliable. And the worst part is that despite competition laws we are stuck with zero choice. Outrageously expensive given the coverage. How can we compete economically with the south when the infrastructure is so poor.
