Totally reliable, never drops out, slow speed but cheap so it suits me. Long range router and I can print from my computer with WIFI so a faultless service for me.

Genuinely surprised to read the reviews on here. Switched to Post Office from the BT monster ages ago and honestly had no problems at all. No speed issues, been totally reliable and good value. Customer service a bit slow to respond, but that's about it...

I recently took out a fibre broadband contract with the PO. Initially speeds were much lower than estimated however when I contacted the PO about this the technical helpdesk were easy to contact, very helpful and arranged for Openreach to investigate. Speed is now within estimate, my only small criticism is that it took 8 days to resolve.

Excellent price at 8pcm, plus 15 for line rental which is less than the line provider (BT) charges. Shows how much BT rip people off. Reliability is 100%, speed 6-8mb as I'm less than 1m from the exchange.
Package has got worse, as they've removed components such as free evening calls to landlines, free weekend calls to mobiles and some international numbers; they now sell this as a separate 5.75 add on, which is disappointing but at a total price of 28.75 would still be bearable, considering you're not financing a media scum mogul who (apparently) hacks murdered schoolgirls voicemails. And TalkTalk regularly have the worst customer service known, only rivalled by Orange & BT.
Post Office customer service is mostly good, although they did leave my 80 year old mother cut off for days, despite promising me that they'd get her reconnected within hours. That and the fact that they never even called me back to explain, when they'd promised to, means that they lose 2 stars and my respect. At least their customer service hasn't been relocated, a la Dyson/Orange/Sky, to a far flung place where you have problems understanding and being understood.

We were recently offered a free upgrade to fibre from standard broadband to the end of our contract. Looking at the mostly terrible reviews we were doubtful. However so far it has been very successful with download speeds at the lower limit promised. We did lose Wifi once but this was quickly sorted with the help of their technicians.

I've been with the Post Office Broadband, that is now Shell Energy, for over two years. I've found their consumer services personnel always very helpful. I've had problems on several occasions with the service dropping out but this was nothing to do with the Post Office internet provider. On each occasion it was a BT Openreach fault and their poor landline service and their inadequacies in correcting faults. Sadly most providers rely on BT Openreach to deliver their broadband service

Was with PO for phone line. When 12 month free offer came up for broadband I called them. They checked my area connection=great. Sent router (idiot proof) set it up. Online. Not had ANY issues with speed or connection. (have waited a couple of months, still not dropped in anyway) Only thing is password given is wrong for new email, cant access my account online. Called for new password, got in, then next couldnt. Havent been anle to access post office email since. However everything else is fine. I would say call them, no complaints here.

Been with them since 2008 had 1 faulty router replaced within 3 days of reporting it. Since 2016 several problems with phone & Broadband connections caused by OpenReach. A phone call to POBroadband quickly & efficiently diagnosed faults, set repairs in motion and due to the number of occurrences gave a 1 month refund for inconvenience. Speed may not be fastest but adequate for me, Reliability seems to be down to OpenReach connection problems on telgraph poles and under the pavement not PObroadband. I have told OpenReach they have broken my connection before they left the pole but it still takes a call via POBroadband to get them to come back & fix it. Neighbours on BT service were equally frustrated by the number of faults and pay more for the service and had no refund.

post office broadband is a great option for anyone who wants to stream videos and download some programs. post office broadband comes with a crappy zyxel router which is trottled by post office themselfs so i installed my own gateway router and it boosted the speed from 5MBPS to 12MBPS which i was promised. overall great company good speeds for my usuage anyway.

It appears the trouble with these sites is the only people responding are the people who have suffered problems. Since switching to the the Post Office over 18 months ago from Virgin who's broadband only worked around 3 days a week. Since joining I have had few problems and the customer service is the best I have experienced, you only have to wait a couple of minutes for a response, some sort of miracle compared with everywhere else

Can only speak from personal experience. I had a problem with broadband dropping off at various times rang post office and to be it took a few weeks to sort out but they were helpful and courteous did everything to sort out had engineers attend the property but couldn't find anything wrong. Eventually they put the line on 24 hour watch and did discover dropouts on the line. Post office were great at ringing me to keep me up to date so no need for me to keep ringing them, post office did all the leg work to correct the fault which eventually turned out to be a fault on the line from the green box to the exchange which bt corrected and now have a nice clear broadband. So to sum up it does take time as post office have to deal with bt and talktalk but it did get sorted, eventually.

Acording to Wikipedia, the Soviet Union fell in 1991 - as such, the people of the USSR never had any ecperience with boradband. If they had, I imagine it would probably have been like our experience woth the Post Office.

The slowest and least reliable internet I've experienced since dial up.

Third update from me on this site and since going live on 27th November I haven't had a single problem with my home phone or broadband (touch wood!!) As stated in my first review I found the whole installation process very efficient with frequent and appropriate updates via text and email, the landline call quality is fantastic....no crackle on the line and although the router looks a bit cheap it is currently working like a dream and I'm very happy with my broadband, not a single outage or faiure and the speed test on this website is 13.57 MB download speed and upload 0.67, 71ms ping time....all of this is meaningless to me but I have found internet usage to be completely reliable even when viewing ITV Player or YouTube. When I have phoned customer services to sort out access problems to my online account and billing queries(both resolved)I found the customer service assistants to be polite and helpful.I live 0.9 miles from the exchange so its not as if I can say my overall satisfaction for the P.O Service is down to the fact that I live across the road from the exchange (clearly I don't!).Free broadband for a year ,£12 a month line rental (paid a year in advance) and unlimited calls anytime to UK landlines and 08 numbthe(£7 per month) which includes calls abroad and to UK mobiles over the weekend (from 6pm Frid)....Based on all the negative reviews on this site Im expecting some sort of major failure anytime soon!! Meantime I'm thrilled with my package from the Post Office (fantastic deal and the cheapest by far!!)....I just hope it continues as it SEEMS like I'm the only satisfied customer in the UK!!!

I didn’t read the reviews of Post Office broadband before switching to them; if I had, I probably wouldn’t have gone with them. However, my experience hasn’t been too bad. I had to wait over 2 weeks for the service to go live but it did activate on the day it say it would. The router arrived quickly, albeit it looks cheap and doesn’t connect to wireless printers. My line has settled and I can 16ms ping, 11.5mbps download and 0.85mbps upload. The router coverage isn’t great but we manage. I did have to request a new landline number because they gave us a previous company’s number which got spammed 24/7, and this took a 20 minute conversation with somebody who struggled with English. Overall, we’ve done alright for the price but Post Office could still do a lot better.

We've been with the Post Office for over two years now and contrary to many other reviews, we haven't really had any problems (touch wood, I hope I'm not jinxing myself here!). We're in a small town. We regularly stream Netflix, Amazon Prime etc. on the TV or PC with no problems; downloads on the PC are fairly speedy; and my son plays hours of online gaming such as League of Legends generally with no problems. He has complained about unacceptable lag if he is in a game and we try to watch Netflix but otherwise no issues. We regularly have two laptops and a PC running at the same time, all watching YouTube or skyping etc. I've only given four stars for reliability because we have had the occasional short period (a few minutes up to 20 minutes) of either very slow running or total unavailability for no apparent reason, but this only happens 3 or 4 times a year and hasn't really been a problem. In general we are happy enough with it. I haven't had to deal with Customer Services but don't recall having any trouble getting it installed in the first place.

I have been a PO customer for over 4 years. Very rarely have I been disappointed with any aspect and these recent reviews prompted me to post mine. At only £8 per month (currently £4) and £15 (£12 if paid in advance) line rental for unlimited broadband it must be a good deal. Plus calls at weekend to 40 different countries. How much more do people want? One thing has never been reported - the evening calls start at 6pm not 7 like so many others. You don't get fibre optic speed but my connection is mostly 7Mb, dropping slightly at busy times.

6.5 is not a bad speed for £15.90 and phone line, I had to upgrade my phone broadband filter which helped as it stopped working for a while and slow speeds the only problem is that they do not contact you when your out of contract and you have to wait until you get a bill to realise

The broadband from this supplier is acceptable for my needs, although I agree that for its monthly low cost, it's good value. I would recommend it for a one device basic user not doing a lot of downloading.
Good entry level broadband giving uunlimited data if you want it at up to about 8 Mb/sec. in my location.

So many negative reviews on here!!
I joined 5 months ago and have had no problems. So many people don't understand how broadband works saying slow speeds etc! Its BT openreach who cap speeds, if you're on the talktalk technology you will have better speeds as it's new. same speeds as talktalk, sky, plusnet etc it's all the same network!

Customer service is good, could be better, it's cheap, reliable, and pleased with how much it costs me. Can't complain! :)

For the price I am paying it is a very good service. I think it is the cheapest one around, £17.00/month. It is only ordinary broadband but the download speeds I get are very good. I think is ideal for someone new to the internet.

Beware , just joined because cheap deal But the router they send will not connect to a wireless printer!
They know this but will not disclose to new customers, you find out later !
They advised to get a “3rd party router” which I did, an old one lying around and reconfigured it myself .

Fabulous broadband and router: speed same as many other providers; router has no issues in a crowded WiFi area (lots of flats).

The whole experience of managing the account is poor, however. No account password set up on sign-up (why?) nor sent in the post, have to phone and sit on hold, account portal is slow, SafeGuard portal is down so you can’t administer website access, have to manually select a post office email address from a drop-down on login (so your browser cannot just auto fill and if you haven’t realised it tells you your password is wrong/been forgotten). In short, I’m pleased but the whole customer experience would benefit from improvement: come on Post Office...fix these things and you’re onto a winner.

Nothing to worry about really, I changed back to Post Office after a couple of years with Talktalk, never had any major probs until this weekend, when, along with everyone else (or so it seems) intermittant router failure to connect with the system. I too have been cut off by them when trying to phone. I notice someone else managed to speak to them and was old it should be back to normal in 72 hours - hey ho !!

Had PO broadband for several months with no problems, running 2 NOW TV boxes in different parts of the house, suddenly had problem with wi-fi signal getting progressively weaker over a couple of days until I could only get it on my phone in the room with the router. Tried to explain this to customer service, asking for a new router. Spent 20 mins speaking to someone who was unable to understand this, told me I needed wi-fi repeaters....at one point she asked "how thick are your walls?" ...resisted replying "not as thick as you" and demanded to speak to a manager. Result, was sent new modem, problem solved. Told manager if I wanted this level of customer service I would go back to Talk Talk !!

Had post office a year now. It’s ok. I have always been able to get through to somebody quickly which is the most important thing in my opinion, so long as they are helpful, which they have been. Speed is absolutely fine. The only problem is that the internet does cut off a couple of times a day (Other reviews mentioned this and it is a consistent thing). But it does come back on automatically after a few minutes. If I was younger I would probably be very dissatisfied however I have been with many providers and name me one which doesn’t have a similar problem! If you need it to be reliable then this probably isn’t the best but I have no idea who’d be better; cutting off a couple times beats terrible speeds, purposely incorrect billing and phantom customer service in my opinion.

I had read literally hundreds of very bad reviews for the Post Office home phone and broadband on this website and very nearly cancelled my order for landline and the 'unlimited' broadband package.I have to report (astonishingly!)that the whole process prior to installation was remarkably efficient and customer service focussed, updates via text and email came thick and fast at appropriate times. The Openreach installation was quick and straightforward and the guy even set up the broadband for me!The landline call quality is clear with no crackle in addition I have found the broadband to be just fine for my needs,I watched YouTube videos last night without ANY problems whatsoever and so far I'm REALLY pleased that I took a chance on the Post Office, particularly as they were BY FAR the cheapest package available. The only annoying glitch for me was that waccessinitially ordered the package over the phone the silly woman that took my order mis typed my surname and this has caused an irritating problem with accessing my online Post Office account ,despite a reissue of my correct username and password I still cannot access my account. The technical helpline people have reissued a third password to go with my reissued username....I hope hope third time lucky!!Other than this am REALLY pleased!!

Recently service failed entirely, mainly due to a fault in network from 2012 never rectified by BT which caused very much noise on the phone line and erratic broadband. Customer service, in Scotland I believe so no language problem, handled my complaint ccompetantly and soon raised a ticket for faults to be handled by BTOpenReach. A day or so later, I was visited, by appointment, by a BT engineer who replaced the 50-year-old wiring and the master socket. Results: crystal clear phone reception and double the Broadband speed. An excellent outcome thought I.

I have only been with the Post Office for two months and due to the really slow speed and Wifi keep dropping, I am currently upgrading to super fast option. I really didnt want to do that because I moved from BT to PO for a cheaper package. But having signed up for 18 months I am now stuck with it. Once of the most disappointing aspects of them is, I use a Macbook Pro and not only could I not view my bills online, I couldnt get any of my account info to load until I uploaded (downloaded?) their virus protection system. This is daft because Apple have superb firewall protection anyway. Also, I have emailed the help people several times now because I have been charged £58 x twice to activate the system. Trying to get that one payment returned is becoming a nightmare. Phoning the help line is also difficult as the call handlers dont seem to understand what I am saying. I will review again once I have got this muddle sorted and the faster broadband is up and running. But, at the moment I think I will be returning to BT at the end of my 18 month contract. Disappointed, but to be fair, I will hang fire for now.

Apalling customer service! I have been without internet for 4 weeks now after changing address, have spoken to 5 different people and still haven't got my WiFi activated. Every time I contacted the customer services department, the answer they gave us was " We will call you in a week/couple of days ".

My parents got this last year, didn't have much trouble, only issue being the router provided. I've never used stock router these internet companies provide you with as they not top quality. Always bought my own. We couldn't get more than 8mb in our area but didn't experienced any issues. Like I said never use stock routers provided as they never can handle the load of multiple devices. Have moved and trying this this year with the Post office again so finger cross it all goes well.

Where do I start!? I informed Post Office of my change of address(in advance). Arrived at new property with a non-working telephone line. After, over a week talking to the tech department,I eventually found out Open Reach had been going to my old address! And that my contract had been cancelled (without informing me) and that my new line was actually disconnected. After this shambolic attempt at running a business,I told them I would be going elsewhere. Now,they won't stop contacting me!

I have been with the Post Office for years because it is the cheapest package for calls. Broadband is reliable but very slow - less than 2mbs and half that of neighbours who are with other providers. I won compensation via the Ombudsman but no improvement. They just say I am out of contract and free to go.

As a new customer, and finding i couldnt even visit national lottery, i was raging, as you need a credit card to open bb account, to have a cc you need to be over 18, so i told them in not very pleasant terms fix it or contracts canceled, sorted
