Having tried Sky for a year I have got the say they really are dreadful. I have been without a signal so many times, I have list count. My telephone line wasn't working for well over 2 months and they didn't feel the need to refund me for the loss over this period. When I was nearing the end of my contract, I contacted them to inform them I didn't wish to renew, their advisor informed me that I had to call back 2 weeks prior to my contract ending which was the 28th and she informed me I had to wait till the 14th. So I did and then they still deducted the next months bill from my account. After informing me it was an overlap and I would receive my refund in 2 weeks, I waited. 2 weeks later still no refund so I contacted them again, now the amount I was going to be refunded was less than they had taken because I had an extra day of internet and their advisor had given me the wrong cancellation date. Now, 7 weeks after ending my contract, I still haven't received a penny. Sky has poor quality broadband and even worse advisors who misinform and simply mislead customers. Definitely will not be going back to Sky anytime in the future.

Very slow and that is when it's working! Sent an engineer out to only fix the phone when I really need broadband as I'm a university student, causing problems with me completing work! If it's not fixed this time will definitely be cancelling, they are quick enough to to take the money but not very good at providing the service!

Since I switched to Sky I have had to put in 5 service calls. I had BT Infinity normal broadband I upgraded as I had thought a much better service to unlimited fibre optic with Sky. I never had to contact BT. Very unsatisfied. Can you help I obviously had to sign up to a contract with Sky. Their router seems to be pants.

Worst customer service that I have every experienced in having internet connection for 20 years. Signed up for broadband, telephone and TV package. Was not happy with the quality of the TV package so after a year gave notice that I wanted to cancel the TV service and move the broadband & telephone to another provider. One month later Sky maliciously cancelled everything. Lost broadband & telephone for 2 weeks and a distinctive telephone number that I had for 15 years. I repeatidly stated to Sky representatives that I did not want to loose internet or telephone services when I gave notice and 2 weeks prior to disconnection when the new telecom provider stated that Sky were intending to disconnect the line. Sky just went ahead anyway. This is vindictive behaviour and borders on the criminal activity. Woke up on a Sunday morning to no telephone and broadband service. All Sky would offer was to sign me up to a new package (with a new telephone number). This was after 3 hours of mobile telephone calls. Please please please do not let anyone go through this experience. AVOID SKY AT ALL COSTS!! You will regret going with this service

Sky get their competitor to install a phone line, BT as as a result use the existing 20+ year old cat 5 to pass "sky fiber" down from the distribution box, instead of 40mb for £37 you get 5-9mbps, slower than mobile broadband.
Will move to virgin, 50mb+ for £30

Sky and BT Openreach don't exactly make a dream partnership. Installation confirmed by lots of text messages from them, I thought wow great communication. Engineer didn't show up. Rescheduled installation date only to be emailed a past date. Advisors haven't a clue, kept transferring calls then they put you on hold for ages then hang up the phone! What a farce!!!! Shocking customer experience.

I think Sky are operationally incompetent, - they told me a porky which meant I had to cancel the order; then they 'forgot' to refund my deposit. But the woman I spoke to to get a refund was pleasant and helpful.

Our sky broadband via an Open Reach connection is not worth having and its reliability is very poor. We have been advised for the last 2 years that infinity would be available to our address. Sky or BT will not give us even a future date for when it will be available.

Well, we changed from BT to Sky a week or so ago. BT were awful but this has still been a mistake because the actual service from Sky is worse.
The average download and upload rates we are getting from sky are around 0.6MBPS. With BT we were getting around twice that and that is what Sky say we should be getting.
Not only that but the router doesn't cover half the house, not a problem with the BT router.
I've been onto Sky and they asked me to move the router to the main BT socket, which does improve the download ( to a whopping 1Mbps!) but as this socket is located at one end of the house in a wardrobe the router's coverage is limited to a bedroom and a landing! For 5 years we have always used the centrally located socket and it was never a problem until now.
Big mistake moving to Sky and we'll be moving on as soon as we can.

Sky cancelled the order, without telling us and leaving us waiting for 2 weeks. Then we had to place order again... We had to contact Sky for this, they did not contact us.
More than 2 weeks later, after placing another order and internet due to be activated on ##/11/15, still no activation the next day.
No contact from Sky on both occasions to explain why we have not been activated or why the service we are paying for is not on.
Over 1 month with no internet, which has caused problems with work and cost us far more money than the service costs.
Will not recommend Sky to anyone, quite the opposite.

Phone line stopped working at the weekend but the only way to report the fault is by phone. Have been kept on hold for a long time and are either cut off by them or can't afford to keep waiting when phoning from my mobile. It shows online that there are problems with our internet speed but their suggestion is to wait for the weather to improve. Tried to complain online but their advisers are always busy. I did get in a queue once, and every minute they said an advisor would be with me shortly, but after 10 minutes I disappeared from the queue and went back to the previous page. I tried yo cancel the call package online but was told there was a problem and to phone their helpline. Not sure why they think the best way to report a phone problem is by phone or why they can use weather as a reason for poor internet but will have to try and find a better service.

We signed up for sky fibre for 1 year and from the work go there was problems. First they sent us the wrong home hub that was set up for standard broadband so didn't work with our fibre connection, then they sent out an engineer to correct the problem, not by swapping the home hub but by switching our line to standard broadband (which we didn't want) and now we have endless trouble with the connection! Our download speed is so slow that it would normally be quicker to drive across town and buy a movie from the shelf than it would to download, all our devices our considerably slow even our smart phones and for any sort of device requiring high speed such as a PlayStation you might as well forget it because as soon as you start something the connection drops out and we have to reset the box.. Very unimpressed with a very poor quality product.

When I signed up to Sky I was promised download speeds of between 2.9 and 4.9 Mbts. I asked them if they were certain, as these speeds have not been my experience in the past but they assured me that the predicted speeds were correct. After installation and 10 days of bedding the broadband in, my speed was and still is between 0.5 and 0.7Mbts. After complaining about this they eventually sent out an engineer who tested everything and told me my installation and equiptment was set up and working ok and the speeds I was experiencing were the only speeds I was likely to get. There is fibre running past my doorstep and has been for over a year but Sky say they cannot give me it yet.

Been with sky for years and was a happy customer until the last few when I started having constant problems, speed is atrocious, single man with sky TV, 1 laptop, 1 smart phone and 1 smart tv so not a lot to run off the bandwidth but obviously too much for sky to handle. Same as I see from other comments that sky refuse to admit they are the problem, guess we're all lying... phoned dozens of times trying to get them to look into it and despite the always helpful customer service the result is always the same, they do nothing..except keep bumping up the price. 10 days ago I phoned and asked them to fix it or I'd be cancelling all, after admitting that I had an "older" router so they would be unable to help me fully I was told that the "specialist technical team" would be in touch within 72 hrs. Absolutely nothing in 10 days and as promised I'll be cancelling everything I have with them and posting my review on as many forums as I can. Terrible company, don't let a polite customer service fool you, they do nothing to resolve what is obviously their issues while continuing to increase prices. It's all about milking the customer dry while denying the evidence you put to them that the service provided is substandard. Avoid like the plague.

Awful customer service. About 2 months into a 12 month contract they increased my monthly charges by £5. When I said I wanted to cancel they wouldn't let me cancel my TV subscription (I had signed up to a package deal). Took a further three weeks and over an hour on the phone to cancel everything.
To top it off as well, the on demand service on the sky box only works about 50% of the time with sky internet.

I have had Sky broadband for just over twelve months. Have to say, during this time have had little problem with my service, odd occasion I have had to switch the router off and this has solved the problem.
I rang their Customer Services today. The reason being was my rental increased to the full amount of £7.50 as my 12 months had expired. Also had increases in the telephone charges.
OK, the call took about 50 minutes and spoke to three people, but it was free. Result as well. Better deal for broadband than I had previously been on. Reduced from £7.50 to £2.50 pm for twelve months. Can't complain with that

I have been with sky for a number of years now, I used to praise them but recently my views have changed. My upload speed is crap, my download speed is poor, and everything is crap about them. The customer service is top notch, very friendly staff and seem to know what they`re doing.
The hardware on the other hand, router, micro filter, etc. VERY POOR, Heres an example, within the hours of 21:00 and 00:00 ( I should be in bed but I have insomnia) I have disconnected 8 times, I have even written the times down im that sad, but in all fairness, if your paying out of your butt for internet, you should get a better service.
I suggest everyone avoid sky, they were once the best, n now the worst. I am considering changing very soon. So good luck to anyone who considers them!
Best post this before my connection goes again..

I shall keep this short and sweet, in case it turns into a rant.
My internet connection fluctuates constantly throughout the day, going from fair/poor to just poor. It is so bad that I get constant hitches in service where either it struggles to refresh a page on the net, or loses connection altogether. And this is when sitting just one room away from the crappy sky router. I have to use a signal booster in my bedroom upstairs, otherwise it is non-existent. Seriously, to all those people who are thinking of going with Sky... just don't. Choose ANYBODY else but them (apart from Talk Talk of course).

Long term O2 broadband customer very happy with previous service and speeds - usually 10/1.2 - then Sky take over and speed is gradually deteriorating and connection intermittent. Now so bad Facebook newsfeed struggles and streaming anything is a distant memory. And they put the price up 50%.
Voting with my feet, bye bye Sky and your greedy and abysmal service!

I very rarely write reviews for anything, whether they are really good or pretty poor, but my experience with Sky has compelled me to seek and fore warn others NOT to entertain switching to this company.
Piss poor does not adequately describe the service we receive now.
Without going into all the details, basically we switched
from a 3-4 meg BB connection with Talk Talk to Sky fibre. The d/l speed now is less than 1mg, we struggle to Skype and watching Netflix is a non starter. Oh and to make matters more enjoyable, it constantly drops throughout the day.
I cant wait to drop these cowboys.

The quality of the broadband has definitely deteriorated over the two years I've been with Sky.
My biggest bugbear with them, though, is their customer service. The majority of it seems to be automated these days, and they go out of their way to make changing your package confusing and difficult. I was sent a letter recently telling me I was being moved to a new package - not at my request - that would cost me £4/month extra. I tried to change it back online - completely unclear how to do so, and unclear whether the change is being effected. I did it over the phone, on an automated service, and thankfully held on to the bitter end of the very long, pointless automated message (about 4 mins of waffle) - because, the voice told me, if you didn't hang on and press 1 at the end, the change wouldn't be effected!
Con artists. Check everything really carefully to make sure they don't rip you off through the back door.

I have just switched from Vodafone to Sky and the service has been terrible. The switch is going to take at least 4 days and I have no internet during this time... The sky rep told me it would only take mins to switch.
I have called them 4 times and haven't even had an apology. I would advise anyone to go anywhere but sky for their internet.
You can't even complain through sky. I have to from Friday to at least Monday and they can't say if it will be up
And running by then????

I wouldn't recommend this to my worse enemy, probably because I can't send them an email to contact them online in the first place 99% of the time. The main question is where to start. Sky Boardband stop working from time to time every week or so for a couple of hours, normally involves a lot of fiddling around to get it back up. Constant disconnects and the ping, download/upload speed is just so bad, I know it goes "up to XY" speed but to have 15 times less constantly in just ridiculous. So that is BB speed/reliability out of the way with. Tried phoning up, once waited 2 hours on the phone to come in call. gets some foreign woman on, said hello and after she said something I said could you repeat that please because I didn't understand, hung up because she though I was being racist. Second time In waited 10 minutes less! (baby steps I guess) got some guy who had static at the end of his phone, said hello and he couldn't hear me so he hung up. Third time the next day I finally got someone, went through the very basic steps "try turning it off and back on"... yes, everyone one and their mother has done that. Then after some more obvious "do this and that" they finally said they would call me back at X time later on that day. Never did. Probably the worse internet provider there is and I can't break the contact yet so I am stuck with this garbage. Great...
Edit : My current download speed is 63kbs.... Taking me forever to download a simple word file..

Probably the worst company I have dealt with. Sucked in at Carphone Warehouse on a deal that looked too good to be true. It was, and when I went back to CW to look at the offer we had discussed they said they could not find that particular leaflet and probably Sky had picked them all up.
Then called Sky and suffered a sales person for about an hour trying to get me to upgrade.
Prices progressively go up. They have just decided to change my plan again at additional cost.
TV recording is restricte - record two at the same time and you cannot watch any other programme.
Broadband is a tad quicker than what I used about 20 years ago.
Cannot cancel contract without early termination and fees and you also have to call someone who may lock you down for 90 minutes. (google Daily Telegraph.
And as for the landline costs - well what can I say apart from we no longer use it.
Upsides? Broadband has only crashed a couple of times.
If I could give a zero rating I would.
