Appalling customer service with Agents who haven't got a clue what they are doing. After almost 10 years loyalty to Sky I will never use their service again. Absolutely shocking!!!

Sky Internet has to be the most appallingly slow peice of s**t out there. Wish we had gone with Virgin media, much much faster than this so called broadband.

i have been spammed through my personal email account and they decided to cut my email off completely. There is no way that i can send an mail now and get the emails which are very important at this time. can't believe it. They wont help me over the phone because i am not the bill payer which is fair enough is i wanted to cancel the package or something drastic like that but all i need is help on how to get my emails back up and running. The women on the phone sounded like she had no idea what was wrong with my email and half way through me telling her my problem she must have spotted it was a mans name as the account holder and asked for the account password so she didn't have to help me.
JOKE. wouldn't recommend at all infact what an awful service i will be setting up a new email and getting my package cancelled.

I'll try to review without swearing but ultimately I would not go with Sky again.

I have a broadband and phone package and my main issue is with broadband and then lack of customer service.

I play on-line games and do a lot of TV streaming. I'll find that games will drop connection after 30 minutes and files can drop connection every 20 minutes.

When I could get through to Sky they would say "oh yes, your line quality has degraded. Let me just tickle this setting and off you go".

Recently though I can't even contact them. I tried for 20 minutes on the phone only to give up and then tonight I sat listening to their "we're sorry that we can't be bothered to put more staff on but please give up before speaking to us" message for 19 minutes only to be cut off! I assume that this is because it hit 8pm and their lines closed.

To say that I am annoyed with Sky and will cancel (probably via Direct Debit as I have no other option if I can't contact them) is an understatement.

    Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.

I have had Sky broadband for about four years now, and it had been okay, with just the odd issue of the service dropping off, but I changed to Sky fibre unlimited three months ago (foolishly signing a new 18 month contract) and it has been appalling ever since. The broadband loses connection at least once a day, sometimes for up to two hours, yet whenever I call them it miraculously starts working again and they can find no fault.
I am an engineer with a bit of a clue as to how it work, and understand that if the fault is not there when they check it that it is hard to find, but I find it very odd that it often starts working again while I am talking to one of their support team on the phone. It's almost as if they have the ability to switch it on and off to slow my usage down!
I would definitely not recommend Sky for broadband or TV (although Sky TV is great it's way too expensive), and will be going to BT when the contract is up.

Probably the worst broadband ever. It is always having issues. My family switched to Sky because it was cheaper than BT.

    I was angry.

Overall OK. I moved away from SKY to EE. I regret that because EE is terrible. But Sky was OK. The speed was acceptable and customer service were great! But the broadband would go like twice in a month. That wasn't good but still. It's better than EE

I've had Sky Broadband for over a year and I feel like it's getting slower and slower. Sometimes I feel like I'm using dial up it's so slow, it's especially slow early in the morning and late at night when you would expect it to be quicker. I would not advise anyone to get Sky Broadband. Their customer service is also hit or miss depending on who takes your call.

I have never experienced such a bad costumer service, I called them 5 times today to ask why my wifi wasn't working and every time i got a different answer, they even asked me to dismantle a landline socket! Then they said they would contact me within 72 hours and that i should wait ( without a wifi at home)When i said that i would change a provider, they told me that i have to wait for 2 weeks for another company to set up my broadband, i feel like i'm waisting my money.

I've just signed up with Plusnet, and they seem very good so far: fast, efficient, polite customer service. Before I did so, I thought I'd give Sky a call. After navigating the extremely frustrating automated telephone menu, I had a very rude man with a strong & difficult Newcastle accent on the line. His attitude stunk right from the start, and he talked right over the top of me on several occasions. Not a friendly contact, so I told him that I had got a good taste of the kind of customer service that I would expect if I signed up, and that I wasn't interested anymore. I hope they lose a lot of business and realise that customer service is key.

Awful awful company. Still no service after 4 months yet being charged. They just don't care - want your money only. All they need to do is connect 2 wires together in my home but this seems completely beyond them. Got to be deliberate because no-one is that incompetent. Avoid at all costs - I wish I had.

We have reported a fuzzy phone line for some time now - Sky can't help. Our line went down altogether last week - Sky can't help. This means we have been without land line and broadband, which is extremely inconvenient to say the least. I guess Sky are OK (at best) if things work but in my experience they are useless should any fault or problem occur. There must be nicer companies to give your money to!

I signed up for sky broadband in August this year. It's now 30 November and still no sign of a service. I'm paying - they've even increased the charge!!! but still no service. Phone line needs connecting up properly but their customer service seems incapable of arranging this..instead they are rude and patronising...they've now said they can't access my account because of data protection!! What??!! Unbelievable. Think very carefully and read/believe the reviews before you consider broadband from Sky. I wish I had.

Sky internet has lied about the speeds the entire duration of the contract. Living in london I don't expect my internet to drop several times a week, but even if I could look past this when we are connected it is pathetically slow. I don't see why anyone would choose this provider when there are so many better options. Don't do it.

I just would suggest to beware of this broadband. Maybe if you dont have any problem it's fine (for me it was 1.5yr) but after it was nightmare to deal with them. Phone calls with advisers or managers for several hours and without any result. very disappointing.

Sky took over from 02 contract. It had been plain sailing for years up until then. Then the issues started. Slow broadband or freezing line and lots of hiss and crackle. Lots of calls and a call out late the issues seemed to subside.

I had 6 months respite then 3 weeks ago I was told voicemail which had been free was going to be charged so I asked for it to come off. Then the broadband kept dropping out and again ,lots of hiss and crackle on the line. After lots of calls and crawling on hands and knees to sockets and filters the checks revealed nothing. One engineer from bt sent out found nothing. Then more checks and my complaint / call with sky seemed to be closed all the time without telling me even though issue unresolved. Eventually the second BT engineer sent came spent several hours here and said the line wasn't profiled ( set-up) correctly by Sky. It was a simple - rookie issue apparently.

Sky called me and had no further info about the issue and offered me £13 for my trouble.

No I would not recommend them. They're pretty lame, technically and service- wise.

My advice. Pay a little more and get decent service.

Terrible customer service. After being with Sky for 3 years they disconnected our broadband without warning when my flatmate moved out. They told me I could set up a new account and they would accelerate the activation through the system. I put in an order, 3.5 weeks later I am still waiting for the broadband to be activated. They have not called me back despite me requesting a call back 3 times over the past 4 days. I was left working from home using 3g from my mobile phone. Unbelievably bad service.

Acquired ex-O2 customer, currently with Sky.
Joining Sky was not a choice obviously but I negotiated the condition to join only if what I had with O2 was matched. It didn't go thru smoothly. Took me months (Oct to Jan/Fen next year) to push it to go thru (They first denied what their sails person promised then said OK but failed to get it into the bill. So called them every now and then to make them follow the terms agreed before start).
They promise anything to get you into net.
This wasn't the last bad experience w Sky. Weeks before moving my home I arranged for the move. Did it go thru as smooth as advertised? NO. No landline or BB for a month after moving in! In return just apologies and no compensation.
Was it the worst? NO! After the move I realised the bill gone up with no notice. Phoned to find out why and the guy said they cannot continue to supply the deal as their system does not allow them. So the contract was breached with no hint or else! So I ended up paying £23.0 ish for something I used to pay half with O2. Max speed 3 MB at best and that even goes down during high traffic hours. Customer service awful.
Only trying to sell you their TV packages. Not really a phone/BB company.

I'm paying for up to 20mb/s broadband, and at the time of writing this review, speedtest.net tells me that my DL speed is a pathetic * 0.49mb/s!! *, and that is with nothing but speedtest and this review page open in my browser, as the only person currently in the house and my laptop the only thing connected to the router.

Customer services are equally ridiculous, stating that 'tests will be done' and all kinds of other absolute *bull*, to have nothing resolved or fixed. While I'd love to say that this is a recent problem or 'cause by' something else, this has been the case for the past 8 months with no change, and prior to that I had a maximum of 2mb/s and terrible stability.

I have been with sky ever since i moved out of my parents 12 years ago and most of the time i have had an acceptable service. as far the sky+ service you cant fault it after all its just watching tv most companies cant get this wrong. broadband however leaves you feeling like you've just been ripped off most of the time. the majority of the time i have had normal adsl and this was always terrible where ever I lived (even at one point next door to an exchange) maxing out at about 5mb/s connection speed so about 500kb actual download speeds for the promised "upto 20mbs" they claim which im assuming you only get if you hardwire your computer into the exchange itself or something. moving on i now have fibre unlimited 40mb which is not too bad even though the hub they give you is no where near capable of this speed and the wireless is the worst ever. all in all id say if you want a mediocre service that just about does what it says sometimes then sky is for you. otherwise id go with virgin even though they throttle speeds you still get 10x more than you would with sky on a good day. thats my 2 pence. thanks lol

Was with O2 for several years without any problems, good service and connection. Think I only had to phone customer service once during 4 years and problem sorted. We got switched over to Sky a few months ago and problems started shortly after. For 6 weeks now we've had just dialup speeds and connection keeps dropping. Have phoned customer service so many times and get taken through same tests every time. Have lost count of the amount of times I've taken the face plate off and moved wires around. Seems to be no record of the problem and have to run through same stuff every time. Finally sent out an engineer last Saturday after 6 weeks of chasing. He was here for 5 minutes and problem now passed back onto Open reach so expecting a BT engineer out again (2nd time). Unless I keep chasing nothing gets done and the fault just disappears off their system, then we have to start all over again. Having read some of the reviews on here I think I will try and change to another provider asap. Have been asking about a refund seeing as our connection speeds are so slow but told no refunds can be given until the problem is fixed. Absolutely useless so far - wouldn't recomment to anyone.

Sky broadband is AWFUL. For the first month it was fine, but having used it for 6+ months it is terrible. It cuts out regularly, it is INCREDIBLY SLOW. It takes 5 minutes to load google sometimes, and our download speed is anywhere from 0.2-0.8mb/s, when it should be at least 10mb/s or more.

It is very frustrating and now with constant cutting out of the internet, my family and I are switching to a different provider because we've had enough of this terrible service.

What a surprise when we realised that the connection that we were paying was not as expected. We made a contract for one year with a maximum speed of 17Mbs. I know the maximum speed is very few times reached, but in this case it was just humiliating. I got a maximum speed of 2 or 3 Mbs.

Although the connection was worse than speaking with walkie talkies, we had to continue paying them because our 1-year contract.

I ask myself when the companies will really work for the people, and not aprofit from us.

They solve the problem saying that the information is lost during the exchange, but it is still unacceptable, we paid to have 17Mbs not 2Mbs.

I was with bethere for many years on their unlimited upto 24mb adsl2+ service and was getting around 13mb/1.3mb then sky took over .... speed dropped to 9mb :(
but due to losing my job money was tight and took a deal for phone and internet at £12.50 a month which was a bargain i could not refuse ... but i really wanted fiber, my finances improved and it was time to upgrade, went for sky fiber unlimited 40mb/10mb and have been pleasantly surprised, i upgraded my adsl cable to a high spec belkin (thick as a network cable) as i had to extend my router away from the phone socket and i am getting the full 40mb/10mb speeds promised, i am no fan of sky but had to write a honest review as so far the service has been good. im getting download speeds of 4.5mb/s and uploads of 1.2mb/s, no more waiting for 5 hours to upload a 2gb file to youtube, now its 30min :D.

I think Sky is brilliant. I have been with them for 10 months now and everything has ran smoothly. I had initial problems with getting a wifi signal from my box but the customer service person talked me through how to resolve this. I have been very impressed with their customer service. I have had to call them a few times to sort out stuff and each time they offer to call back and do so promptly. I can't recommend this company highly enough mainly because their customer service is so great. The equipment also works very well and I get wifi all the time.

Utter Sh**. Sorry for my language but I'm very frustrated!. I had no idea I wash't the only one who had dropped internet. To make things even worse there customer service is just as bad. My internet has been going off short periods of times. Sometimes 10 times in 5 minutes.for 8-9 months straight. Now I have chosen to cancel. Customer service of sky just use " we will send an engineer to fix it" for all problems. Sky have a record of how many times a day my internet has dropped. Sky don't even bother calling back or checking up on us to see how were dealing with there problem!. It's shocking how they loop calls and waste your time. nothing has been done about my internet and every time i call its the exact same words over and over again. I suggest to anyone don't go near sky broadband!!!!. If you want to stress yourself out go ahead!. Its been another 2 weeks and I can believe we will have to call again, tho this will be our last call as I will definentely cancel and go for virgin media broadband .

    Please stay away from Sky!

Our kids really wanted sky t.v so we swapped our TV, phone and broadband package from BT to sky. Worst mistake ever. Our internet is painfully slow. We complained numerous times but it has never got any better. To make things worse our phone bill was through the roof every month - turns out that we are being charged a national rate for local numbers! Sky claim that Anything outside your own code area ( even if only 20mile down the road) if they have a different dial code the it's national not local!!! Absolute joke!

To use catch up TV we have to wait on a programme downloading all day before we can view it :(

We are cancelling sky and returning to BT.

Great TV -if skewed towards younger market. Broadband is dire though; speeds in evening and weekends around 0.2MBs (!). Takes ages just to open a web-page and sometimes even that fails.
SKY told us it is BT's doing and could only be resolved if paid for superfast broadband (we have with BT).

Signed up to sky on the 13th of October with the 2 years free broadband deal. Waited a week and no router so I rang SKY, for them to tell me I only signed up for TV...After an hour of them trying to sell me some kind of internet deal that would cost an arm and leg I decided to cancel it all together. Then they made me pay a further £10 pound for the service I had received GREAT! So I have an appointment made for the box to be collected and my service is running fine, until 1 minute before the football started tonight and then they decided to stop my service! I wonder If that’s because I signed up with the sports package and they want to wind me up? Well I will never join sky again you MUGS!

The internet speed has never been great at my current house. I've lived here all my life, and we must have old cables or something, because no matter the ISP (AOL, BT, Sky), the internet rarely goes up past 1000 kB/s. But we've always had a reliable connection that rarely goes down... until we switched to Sky. Our connection slowed down slightly after the switch and never sped back up again. Now we're capped at around 900 kB/s, with the broadband regularly going down for no reason for around 2 minutes. The downtime periods usually happen at least twice a day making downloading large files (which is an essential part of my work) very difficult. Also, we easily reach our bandwidth limit and get capped at 100 kB/s download, which renders the internet fairly useless and makes doing such simple tasks as watching youtube videos or sending an MP3 file tedious. We've spoken to them about it a few times and nothing is ever done. We're paying for internet that's not worth paying for, and we all cannot wait until our contract is over so we can finally switch to a more reliable ISP.

If you're looking for a reliable, helpful and fast ISP, forget about Sky. Go for BT or Virgin Media.
