Recently browsing for a cheap broadband service I decided to sign up with the Post Office - unbelievably without checking their reviews. After signing up and having the engineer booked,I rather belatedly read them which sent me into a blind panic! Straight away I decided to cancel installation and sign up with a more expensive and therefore I thought better quality broadband provider. It was my step-daughter who pointed out that people only tend to leave bad reviews and only a very small minority take the time to leave a positive one with regards to this sort of thing.SO! I went ahead and I have to say that I have experienced nothing but a 5* service - from the initial organisation and communication regarding initial installation to the customer services team (I had to call twice for some advice) and now the broadband connectivity and speed. I was prompted to leave this review by my step daughter - a technically savvy city manager, who, having just stayed with us and working from home (in a very rural cottage somewhere in the Herefordshire countryside) declared that our post office broadband was just as good as her more expensive provider and she didn't experience any lull in speed or connection and is considering transferring to them!
In short, I am over the moon and if I had taken any notice of these bad reviews I'd now probably be paying twice as much!

I asked for the line rental saver on initial sign up to a homephone and broadband deal, however when I looked at the bill I didn't get what I had asked for.
I then contacted customer service who said that they would listen to the call and what they said was I had never asked for line rental saver. This is a total lie since I always ask to pay line rental up front for the duration of the package or at least for the year.
What did they do? Was the end of the call deleted. Some customer service that is. you can be sure I am not going back after this contact is over.

Had all sorts of delays and excuses getting service up and running, but did receive £10 compensation. I've had various isps over a number of years and this is the worst ever. Constantly losing connection to smart TV and having to reset on almost daily basis. Connecting to even basic websites can take forever. Am in process of switching prior to contract ending and anticipate claim for non-completion of contract. Will dispute in court if it comes to it.

Where do I start?! Reading all other reviewers is like reading my own problems! 2 years of sheer headaches with this 'provider' and I've finally given up. Initial set up went wrong leaving me with no service for over a month, then the service was so bad that I might as well not of had any quite frankly. Numerous calls to technical support were carbon copies of other reviews on here, plug into test socket, it's your home, charge for engineer etc. Engineer visited and said the problem was with BT, I have been screenshotting the connection when it drops and have 100s! Told by Post Office once issue was resolved that I'd be compensated and that I wouldn't receive this bill only to receive it anyway. Rang customer service and told blatant lies that there's no problem and the bill will need paid despite me being promised it didn't! If the internet is working fine then how come I have screenshots saying connected but no internet or ready to conbect when quality of internet improves? And how are so many people here saying the same thing?! Avoid this shoddy company at all costs, terrible customer service and total lack of internet at times and sometimes internet being off the whole day! I'd of liked to give no star at all but had to so I could leave a review.

Cheap and cheerful - steady 15-16 Mb speed, rarely loses service, reliable router. Customer service promptly dispatched a replacement when my first router was killed by a lightning storm.
Note that I live in an urban location with good infrastructure and live alone so I don't put my connection under any strain.

Had post office a year now. It’s ok. I have always been able to get through to somebody quickly which is the most important thing in my opinion, so long as they are helpful, which they have been. Speed is absolutely fine. The only problem is that the internet does cut off a couple of times a day (Other reviews mentioned this and it is a consistent thing). But it does come back on automatically after a few minutes. If I was younger I would probably be very dissatisfied however I have been with many providers and name me one which doesn’t have a similar problem! If you need it to be reliable then this probably isn’t the best but I have no idea who’d be better; cutting off a couple times beats terrible speeds, purposely incorrect billing and phantom customer service in my opinion.

Just appalling. During contract the speeds are highly variable with periods of it being completely Unusable. Request technical support and the best you can expect are e-mails telling you they've tested your line and everything's fine so they're considering the case closed. Woe betide anyone calling towards the end of the contract and hoping to cancel with some peace of mind that they'll know what Post Office will charge them as early termination charges are pulled out of thin air but they "can't tell you what your final bill is cos it hasn't been produced yet" (And that from the billing department).
Just save yourself the hassle and use a company which knows its backside from its elbow.

Just wanted to point out a really annoying feature of the website where you are supposed to be able to obtain and print out your Post Office broadband bills, you absolutely cannot do so unless your device supports Adobe Flash. This discounts all apple devices including mobiles and iPads and Macs. Flash itself was old fashioned in 2010 and it’s due to be phased out completely in 2020, so why are they still using it? Just seemed shoddy to me as well as being incredibly irritating, considering they charge you for paper billing. Why not just pay someone to update the website so that everyone can have access to it?
The broadband itself was okay for the money by the way.

The wifi only worked if my laptop was right against the router. Even if I moved it a foot away it would stop working. I telephoned customer services twice. First they said it will take about 10 days to pick up. Second time they said they will give me £25 as good will gesture to buy a wifi extender. I went to PC World to find a wifi extender for this price but all the good wifi extenders were really expensive. I should not have to be going to PC world to buy extras for a wifi coverage in the first place. I sent two emails asking if they can send an engineer to look at the router or not charge me cancellation fee as the problem is with their router but my emails got ignored. After getting extremely frustrated with their service I decided to end the contract even though I will be charged cancellation fee. I did not care. I just wanted out from this really terrible service. I put up with this service for a month and then cancelled it.

This is the worst I've broadband in my life plus the service as well! When I first sign up they tell you u have 14 days to cancel the beard and if I dnt want it but I rang up they say diffrent things! The speed was so slow to the point that I just use my mobile data everyday glad is unlimited! It gets to the point I can't deal with it anymore I rang up and cancelled the broadband and the women ask me to pay £150+ cancellation fee! Wow... what an amazing customer service and company! Avoid forever! From the pass I rang up try to get the engineers out to sort out the problem they never sent one out due to the reason being I don't have a landline so is not first priority for just broadband customers? Seriously? Anyone want to sign up for their brardband I hope u better not ! Awful, now I am just waiting for my £150+ 50dya notice bill to my door!

I didn’t read the reviews of Post Office broadband before switching to them; if I had, I probably wouldn’t have gone with them. However, my experience hasn’t been too bad. I had to wait over 2 weeks for the service to go live but it did activate on the day it say it would. The router arrived quickly, albeit it looks cheap and doesn’t connect to wireless printers. My line has settled and I can 16ms ping, 11.5mbps download and 0.85mbps upload. The router coverage isn’t great but we manage. I did have to request a new landline number because they gave us a previous company’s number which got spammed 24/7, and this took a 20 minute conversation with somebody who struggled with English. Overall, we’ve done alright for the price but Post Office could still do a lot better.

Only had broadband two weeks and it's absolutely non existent. Was told when I switched from BT that the speed would be the same. Approx 6.5-7mb. It was nowhere near. Most of the time it was 0.75 or lower. These people make promises and fail to keep them. I was lucky in that I was able to opt out. At a cost of £120 though!!
I have now gone back to BT and have infinity. It's going live next week. This is an experience that I would rather forget.
I advise people to seriously consider the Post Office when choosing Broadband. At the end of the day you get what you pay for.

Feel Conned ! If I had known that Talktalk provide the Post Office with their internet service I never would have agreed to contract. Feel completely conned. Have filed a complaint but apparently the Post Office are within their rights not to make it apparent that they are in fact Talktalk ! Service staff really incompetent and rude and even told they couldn't help as I was contracted with Post Office. Ever feel you are going round in circles? Anyone out there considering PO broadband - don't do it!

Ordered a new phone line & broadband had an engineer date but he never came. Called customer services several times waste of time and 0345 money on my landline. Still don't have a date or reason why except blaming Open Reach. My advise steer well clear wish I had never bothered.

Not great.. we switched to Post Office 9 months ago, knowing it could be a bit of a risk. Speed is very unreliable, they replaced the modem, no improvement. I stopped calling them. I am just waiting for the end of the contract in 3 months to switch to a more reliable provider.

The worst internet provider I have encountered anywhere in the world, not to say in UK. Slow like 90s phone line speed internet with frequent disconnections and not usable even for web searching not to say work or other things. I do not recommend and avoid at any costs Post Office broadband.

Absolutely terrible company. I have found that both OpenReach and BT are both very low level companies. They only reach the minimum level of acceptability for both customers and network service. Their staff were snappy and rude. Internet only works half the time

I recently moved ISP because the total TV+BB+Phone package I previously has was out of contract and for the channels i was receiving, it just didn't justify the cost or taking out a new contract. Therefore I decided to split my BB+Phone and my TV into two service providers. I went with PO Broadband simply because they have some of the most competitive deals on the market.
Prior to the ISP switch, I received very good comms both in the form of email and post. The comms explained the contract I had signed up to and also the process of switching my ISP and when my service would go live. Shortly before my go-live date, the small broadband device was delivered.
When opening up the package it had the correct contents to get you going and to my surprise, a rather small wifi router. I immediately judged its performance without actually going live and though surely it wasn't up the job. Regardless, I got prepared and setup for the go-live.
On the go-live date, the service picked up as normal, no glitches and no real down time when attempting to establish a connection between the wifi router and the ISP. Brilliant I thought. Once the internet was available, I plugged in a few ethernet cables in the back and surely enough the connected devices received an internet connection. I immediately noticed the line speed was good and consistent. No real lag throughout the day and for a non-fibre connection, this was important. I finally began to reconnect the wifi devices around the home and as I was suspicious to see what the range through the property was, I walked around and tested the connectivity. It was great, the exact same as my previous ISP provided device, and they claimed they have the best range in the market! This little device was surely pulling its weight.
Since the connection (2 weeks), I have had a stable and reliable internet service paired with a good wifi connection. No complaints there.
I have looked on the online portal for my broadband and everything is laid out very neatly. No flashy gimicks or long loading times between the pages. A simple, straightforward website that lets me navigate to different areas concerning the contract I have. You can immediately do things such as view bills, change safety settings or purchase additional services. All very simple to use and easy to access.
Overall, I have had a great service from PO Broadband and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a cheaper alternative to the larger players in the market.
