Avoid at all cost. Have had problems with broadband speeds for several months. Despite several hours on the phone problem still ongoing. Telephone assistants unable to grasp the issue and insists on taking me through initial checks every time. they basically are not interested in sorting out the problem. it would appear that too many of us are using the same signal thus as the day goes on with more demand by talktalk users the broadband speed just slows down. appalling service. AVOID AVOID AVOID

Oh man. what a nightmare! I decided to go with Talktalk's large fibre optic simplybroadband service...what an f'ing mistake. It was activated in September and a few days later when I was at home from work I noticed that certain web pages were actually buffering!? So I thought, no it couldn't be, let me check the speed. Well, I check the and I find that my download speed is something like 5 Mbps!! That's right, there is no typo...5 Mbps! The service is advertised at 76 Mbps and with a wifi you typically see about a 30% reduction in speed to around 50+ Mbps. Talktalk advertises 58 Mbps. I call them, get some "fault technician" in India who runs through a few tests and says that the line seems ok but maybe there is a problem at my end. He wants to get am engineer out to my place. Fine. We arrange for an engineer. I spend then next few days playing around with their setup trying to figure out what's wrong. They actually don't provide much documentation for their "super router" which seems to be a pretty low end vdsl modem/router. Anyway, the engineer comes measures the speed and declares:"You should renegotiate the package with Talktalk as the speed is not what's advertised" and then he leaves. No attempt to troubleshoot, no attempt to reconfigure the router settings no replacement router NOTHING. It's now November and I've regularly contacted Talktalk with this issue and they have done NOTHING...absolutely NOTHING! They keep "escalating" my issues to someone higher who then proceeds to do NOTHING! On the rare occasion I get someone who knows something, they express genuine concern that the service is not what is advertised and then say the will "escalate" my issues. Now, the latest information I get from some Talktalk flunky is...wait for it...the Terms and Conditions statement that is buried in the fine print of the agreement! I was expecting this at some point and I do know something about those issues as quite a few companies (Apple to name a big one)try to hide idiotic agreements and hidden fees in the T&C as if by clicking "I agree" you've signed your rights away and the company can absolve themselves of poor service or a bad product. I don't think so! I was appalled that someone actually called me up and used that lame irresponsible excuse rather than to do the right thing for a paying customer and replace the router. It has been amazing what a bunch of amateurs. This is such a simple customer issue to fix, yet Talktalk are either too stupid or bureaucratic to actually be effective. What a shame as I'll stop paying them, demand a refund for the last 2 months and get a new provider...but first I'll go to either the ombudsman for communication and possibly ofcom depending on what the ombudsman tells me. Join Talktalk at your own risk. For those of you who may not know, Talktalk use BT lines which they "rent" and just stick their own service company in front of the BT infrastructure.

Quite literally the worst internet company I have ever dealt with. I never leave reviews but I really had to ensure that no one else makes the same mistake by going with this company. Unfortunately restricted to choosing between talktalk and sky due to the area we live in. Chose TalkTalk as slightly cheaper than Sky but now I know why.
The customer service was appalling. It has been 2.5 months and they kept cancelling our appointments. When an engineer did arrive we had not been informed he was coming so we were out at work. When we finally got an engineer to come he said he could not lay a cable at that point and would have to arrange another appointment and had no idea when that would be and we are struggling to make another appointment.
We have lost in total 4 days of paid annual leave waiting for TalkTalk to come and then having appointments cancelled or being futile.
I would say perhaps we were unfortunate, but reading these reviews I see that many people have had a terrible experience with TalkTalk too. Would 100% not recommend them in the slightest.

Nightmare from day 1! Arrived late, faulty equipment had to send an engineer round, tried to charge me £50.00 for that repair. internet didnt work for the first month but was still charged for it, every-time I speak to live chat I get disconnected ( 8 times in a row ) Canceling the Direct Debit and leaving them as now they are trying to charge me £10.00 late fee for their own errors. Would love my case to go to court!

All was going well until we got a new modem, that has to be reset at least twice per week as it keeps failing. A month ago my emails stopped coming, I called every day for an hour and on the 7th day was told that talktalk had switched from an old to a new platform but had forgot to tell anyone. Took me 17 days to transfer and trawl through what I needed to keep and bin out of 24'800 emails because I could not transfer from the old to new platforms, it also meant that I had to create a lot of new folders.
Around that time I noticed when going in the members area of any website or when wanting to pay on line for something the page went grey and the message at the top of the page now says internet explorer can not display this page, this means I cant send parcels using people like my hermes or parcel to go because I cant pay and cant get through the selection pages. Cant even get to me ebay myebay page.
Called talktalk every day for a month now and reported the problem again today, wish I had not because now my PC wont even go online. I am told tht the problem is that I have no internet conection and when I go in the icon bottom right of screen to see where my connection is its missing. Some Indian girl very hard to understand as she read her internet faults for dummies book whilst talking to me said she will report it, again, and it should be okay in 3 days time.
I have been in contact with some CEO so I have emailed him again, I have so far been given 2 months free of bills, no good if you cant get on line except if you blag a laptop which I have done.
TALKTALK, tech staff who know nothing, agents you cant understand or cut you off half way through doing something so its lets start again boys and call again.
The worst company that I have ver dealt with and I am sure that I will now have to find a new provider.
The current situation is costing me about £20 a day in extra postage unless I can borrow a laptop someplace to print off labels.
What do talktalk say "I UNDERSTAND" well if you do understand talktalk then get it fixed you donkeys.

The worst Customer Services ever. You are warned.
I have had 3 issues with Talk Talk.
In the first one, I was waiting for almost a month to be my SIM activated (after I received it). They made a mistake with the IMEI number.
In the second one, I was waiting for a week to have internet working for the first time. They made a mistake connecting to other customer landline (are you a child playing with cables?).
The last one, not solved yet, I'm waiting for 2 weeks to an engineer to come to fix internet. I have needed 3 appointment. First, they never came. Second, the address was wrong (but they were here two weeks ago to setup the router?). Now I'm waiting for the third...
Of course I want to cancel the contract, but I singed for 18 months (17 to complete).
Maybe if you don't have any issues, Talk Talk is good because is a little bit cheaper than others, but if you have an issue (believe me, you will, I have had 3 in 6 months), you're lost!!

Do not use TALK TALK, I closed the account, left the country, they carried on taking money out for 1 year until I realized. My bank helped me a bit but then 1 year after I received a demand from Talk talk demanding £222 which I could not understand. It turns out that someone has used my details and carried on using the service until 2013 even though I told talk talk about this in 2011. They did nothing, I even was in contact with the CEO who tried to make a deal that he will waiver the 222 if I do not request a refund for the money owed to me. Of course I disagreed so 2 years later another debt recovery is on my case. talk talk are incompetent , if someone says they are leaving the country then how can someone else be able to use the account? I now have to waste my time and call action fraud. I will go to the small claims court. Talk talk have not heard the last from me.

Like most utility companies, customer service is appalling.
Be economical with the truth, sell the product, then grow cloth ears - quite a strategy but TalkTalk has it off to a fine art.
Regarding the product: Speed is nowhere near what's claimed, reaching 5mbps download is a struggle. Reliability is poor; speed frequently strangled and occasionally cut off, sometimes for hours at a time.
Wifi hub isn't the best and I reverted back to an old one.
TV box and package are a total waste of time. VERY slow to open. Not the easiest to navigate. Can't record. clearly designed to make you spend more. Needs ethernet cable.
Whilst I'm well aware that other providers are every bit as bad, I'm still moving to a new contract that'll at least save me a few quid.

Please do not join this service. I am still waiting for my refund of £172.20 after 15 days. This is a joke! Upon calling talk talk today I was passed around until I had spent £3.50 on phone calls with no solution. They claim that they have sent a cheque, but do not use registered mail, so have no evidence of delivery.
Two things stuck me:
1. Who sends cheques? The only reason is an insidious one where they are trying to make it unnecessarily hard to claim back what is rightfully yours.
2.By not using recorded mail you, the customer, are left in a quasi-purgatory where they claim that they have "sent the cheque so it must be with you; prove that it isn't".

I was initially on a 12 month contract with talk talk which ended sum time ago however I did nothing about it... thought when I have the time being a busy mum of 3 and pregnant with my fourth working full time and being a part time student in my last year thought after baby and graduation in may 2014 I would look around for the best deal. However only recently end of august 2014 I looked online and found a very good deal with sky and decided to join sky. My service qith sky began on the 1 oct 2014 Only a yesterday did I receive a email telling me that I have to pay £201.74 for breaking my contract early I kept tinking I got this contract 1 yr and a half ago What so they mean then I called talk talk to enquire about it and was told I WA initially on 12 months contract but I was upgraded to the TV essentials package on the 17 Jan 2014 which is a 2 yr contract ending 16 Jan 2016... and the advisor said they upgraded me to it only after I agreed or gave consent... let me clarify I DID NOT CO SENT OR AGREE TO THIS CONTRACT OR HAVE ANY KNOWLEDGE OF IT. I received no paper works to say thanks you for upgrading you are now on our 2yr essential tv package if I did I would have called them. In my time with talk talk I have never made any contact with them they only called me to offer me the you view box which they said is free as their offer ring it to new customers I specifically said if it's free il take it if not then no thanks they tried offering for me to upgrade to some other package which I said no to because as talk talk can check on their records I hardly use my landline Iv got it for my broadband purposes and for making calls to 0844/0845/0870 numbers etc official offices other then that don't use it . However I should have suspected something when my bills hiked up from £27 to £38 per month. Unbelievable how they deceived me and committed this fraud. It is outrageous and damn right wrong on top of that have the cheek to hare me for coming out of a contract I didn't have any knowledge of. Furthermore talk talk it was at the you say I agreed to it in Jan 2014 I would have known that I'm in a 24 months contract and not gone looking one line to see who had cheapest offers also I believe I was under alot of stress around that time because my uni assignment was due in on the 19 of January do to u reply tink I would have put that on hold to agree to a contract which will oat me more each month when I have 3 mouths to feed. You sceaming scammers. Urgh left a very bad taste in my mouth never ever will I be going to talk talk again or recommending you will be telling everybody about this Facebook instagram twitter get ready here I come...

Went to switch to talktalk but noticed their estimated speed was a third my current and previous supplier... Contacting customer services, all they said is "you can't currently be getting the higher speed" REALLY? and just said "let it go live and see" so then I'll be out of cancellation period and stuck with rubbish broadband for a year!
Cancelled and now waiting advance line rental refund, 10 days to return yet they were quick to take the £172.20 over 2 weeks before my go live date!
Stay well clear!

Talk talk is disgusting !!! Do not join them whatever you do. Biggest mistake I have ever made! Lost internet connection 3 weeks ago ... Still not on the Internet today 03.11.2014 ... Customer service is awful ... They just transfer you to a fault team who repeat everything you say and then hang up. Had three engineers book and on three occasions they have failed to attend?! Wasted three days annual leave waiting for them to come. They treat and talk to you like dirt.

Everyone told us not to go with talktalk, because "you get what you pay for." We should have listened. Faults with the router mean I'm stuck with a PC that can't connect to the internet for a year, or face paying to end the contract early. My only other option is paying for a technician to visit, with no guarantee it will help.
Do not risk it, no matter how tempting the package - go with BT, Sky, Virgin, literally anyone else but TalkTalk.

Have been with TalkTalk for years. No problem with BT line and talktalk internet.
Switched to talktalk line and internet and the problems began. Its the same piece of wire going to my house but the internet is so unreliable and connectivity drops.
When I contacted them - they said it was normal and I should upgrade to fibre optic! They might as well spit in my face
