I have been with talk talk for only 2 months and in that time i have been on to them about there broadband service which is basically none existent i have had 2 talk talk engineers out and a BT engineer too, 1 of each within 7 days of each other and still no broadband, when i phoned up again they did all the line test as per usual and then told me they were going to send out yet another engineer which would be charged at £50 if they found a fault with the wiring that they supplied. yes i did connect it myself but lets face it, its not rocket science but even so, i know that it is a connection problem with their router as i can plug a sky router in to the socket and i get perfect connection but this means i'm unable to watch the entertainments package that i'm paying for too.
How can a company that is meant to be so big and good, be so rubbish.
#If you ask to speak to someone from the CEO of the company you get told that they can not put you through or give a contact No which is a load of crock in my eyes.
I will be taking legal action against talk talk for services not received and looking for compensation for this plus loss of earnings

Have been with Talktalk for at least 6 years. Had problem on 22 August, which they say is not theirs. Was made to phone from mobile for over 40 minutes while they tested line. Have spoken to 3 different people and had online chat with 4 others. Last one told me problem was in my house. Internet connection keeps crashing, and download speed is 59 instead of about 9. Had no internet from 22/08 until 28/08, when it mysteriously started working again. Don't know what to do, apart from stopping the direct debit.Am definitely changing when my contract expires.

They have driven me insane!
Fine as long as you don't complain and have infinite hours to go round in circles on the phone. Will promise what ever will shut you up and then not do it.
I have been complaining since 3rd July and had been reduced to exasperation repeating checks and answering the same questions for hours on an almost daily basis with people in call centres in Manila, India, S Africa and Preston. I now have the internet and less disconnections but was charged an extra £50 for "fixing" the problem. When I complained, again, I was given a refund and goodwill gesture making my bill £14 in credit. They tried to take £72 from my bank. Fortunately I had suspended my DD. I complained and was told this was a mistake and I would not be charged for reinstating my DD.
Today I had a call from Kate in S Africa to say they had tried to take money form I account and the DD had not worked. I explained, again, and she said I would be charged £4.50 to put things right.
I tried to talk to one of the many managers who have promised to put things right personally and so far failed and was told they could not put me through. My complaints are currently with the CEO Dept who will phone back in 5 working day.
As I was promised a call back last Friday then Monday and did not receive either I don't hold out much hope.
Two days on from my first review, my complains were referred to the highest TalkTalk authority last Tuesday/Wednesday and I was told someone would phone within 5 working days. This of course has not happened. When I phone now all I am told is that it has been passed to the CEO so they cannot do anything. Desperate!

Despite a few of the reviews that I looked at for Talk Talk I decided to go with them anyway for the Simply Broadband connection with 1/2 price for 6months and a love to shop voucher.
It took Talk Talk 21 days to get round to giving us a connection. The line since has not worked and have been unable to do anything more than simply load google and most of the time the internet is simply not working at all.
after the customer service employees passing me round the office and getting me on my hands and knees to dismantle the hardware that was meant to have been installed correctly, they informed me that they would have to send out an engineer (that was origionally meant to come within 5 days, then 2 weeks, then a month and a half).
apart from having no internet, the voucher they promised in the package never turned up and after an hour of being on the phone to them found out that they had cancelled it a month ago (even though I had previously inquired into this and they told me nothing of the sort). They then offered me the money from the voucher off from my bill. Not only did this not happen but they then over charged me on 2 months worth of bills.
After being on hold for 30 minutes I decided to call another day. The service I received was beyond inadequate and then having to talk to an entire team of people who cannot understand me or I them made the icing on the cake for a overally disappointing experience.

Terrible speeds and extremely unreliable. Don't use TalkTalk. Their SimplyBroadband deal may look attractive for the price but trust me when I say you get what you pay for. A rubbish service.
The customer service couldn't give me much advice apart from "have you tried turning it off and on again?" Do they think we are stupid or something?!! Don't go for TalkTalk go for someone more reliable like BT. Prior to TalkTalk we had been using BT for about 8 years without an issue. We only went for TalkTalk because of the great price.
Don't be suckered in!

Not really had a problem with talk talk - just signed up for another 12mths with 6 months 1/2 price.
Phone line was rubbish at first but they got an engineer here within a week (BT subcontractor) who arranged BT to fit new cable from pole - broadband has been fine since getting 14meg so adequate for my use. Will maybe upgrade to fibre when becomes available in my area. Was a virgin customer for many many years at previous address but wanted to pay less - you soon get up to £40+ per month with virgin or sky and this is too much for us - so talk talk has been a good substitute. I have a NOW box for the odd time I want to watch my team on Sky Sports (obviously better to not be using laptop/tablet at same time as streaming tv sports with a low download speed).
So all in all satisfied.
I think a lot of people's problems come with maybe bad overhead phone lines/connections so ask for a proper line check before installing BT/TalkTalk or even SKY BB.

I was given a start date when I joined but the set up guide was very limited and unhelpful and there was no info about setting up an email address through Windows mail.. When I looked for a technical helpline there wasn't one so I had to ask through the online forum - the "Talktalk community."
I entered all the relevant settings but still cannot set up a Talktalk email account yet I set up an outlook.com account in seconds. Strange.
Talktalk then decided to disconnect me on the same day I was sent a warning letter wrongly telling me there was insufficient funds in my bank account. Thanks guys.
I have had constant connection problems since day one. I altered the router standby settings to 'always on' yet it still disconnects every few days. I have phoned the well intentioned but useless technical staff in Talktalk's Indian call centre who ran tests and told me the fault would be rectified within 72 hrs, it wasn't. Withiin hours I received text after text asking if my problem had been resolved - "Please text FIXED or NOT FIXED" etc.
The only positive point about my experience with Talktalk is that the speed seems to be consistent so far.
I was well and truly taken in by Talktalk's £3 a month, unlimited downloads promise but should have known better from a company who don't even offer free evening and weekend calls with their basic package.
After four months I now intend to cancel my contract and count my losses.
Please avoid.

Constant connection problems.
Foreign call centre workers without a clue who sound like they're at a noisy party.
I was disconnected on the same day I received their letter wrongly claiming there were no funds in my bank account.
The only positive thing I can say is when I manage to get online the speed seems to be consistent, apart from that TalkTalk are the pits.
After four months I intent to cancel my contract and count my losses.
Please avoid.

Terrible. It just took 6 minutes to download an 11 minute kids show, which then stalled three times during viewing. Their response is not helpful. Feel as though I've been cheated.

The worst company I've ever dealt with.. They keep on charging me month by month even though I called twice to cancel my contract, sent 4 emails and spoke to two different online advisers. I've got 4 names of advisers, 5 different dates of disconnection, 3 bills after service cancellation. Simply, they force me to pay even though I moved out from that place almost 3 months ago. Trying to resign since 9th June..

Talk talk are ridiculous, simple issue (modem needs replacing) 3 one hour phone calls, one visit by BT engineer who left a faulty box, promised to drop a new one in, but didn't, back to square one rasing a new fault. It is also impossible to complain, once you have raised a fault, all roads lead to a call, where the IVR system says they are aware you have a fault and a re working on it! Worst company in the telecomms sector, a sector not known for its customer service! SO FRUSTRATED

I am unable to put in a rating for broadband at all as I never received my service! I have been trying to get phone, broadband and TV service from talktalk since 17th June. It is now 13th August. The company has not been able to resolve any issues which arise, have tried to fob me off with pretty poor customer service, left me without even a landline for that length of time and then refused to process a refund as they maintained that I did not confirm details with them. I have spent an additional £50 on my mobile phone trying to reach a resolution as (thanks to Talktalk!) I did not have a landline to call their freephone number! I have now decided to go with BT. I would rather pay an additional couple of pounds a month with the knowledge that I can actually reach a human being to speak to if needs be. Oh, and I still haven't received my £141 line rental which I paid upfront! Now I'm having to raise a dispute through my bank to try and get it back!!!

What a shambles. Ordered fibre connection on line, received an order confirmation with go live date also received a letter confirming direct debit. Go live date came and went..nothing!! Phoned talktalk told I didn't have an order (strange) tried to reorder but told I could not keep my existing number... wait for it... because there was already an order on the line (presumable the order they told me did not exist). Asked to talk to a manager who said he could sort it out but I must keep on the line and whatever I did not to disconnect...waited listening to silence for 30 - 40 mins and then they put the phone down... I guess their call center staff think this is funny. Called back to to complain and was sent around the houses before eventually getting put through to customer loyalty who said "I understand you want to know what your go live date will be"... Does anyone at talktalk actually understand plain english or have any sense of what customer service should be? By this time I was fuming and made sure they deleted all my details from their system including being deleted from marketing material. Do talktalk really believe that this is a way to sell a service? So feeling extremely angry I phoned Plusnet and boy what a contrast I've placed my order and was smiling at the end of the call, the girl I spoke to was excellent... shame on talktalk!

Echoing what everyone here seems to be saying. I had a workman cut through the line coming in to the property. I reported it. After 5 days I saw a BT engineer (he'd arrived 3 days previously without anybody telling me that there had been an appointment made so I wasn't there). I made another appointment, BT weren't told - I waited in for 5 hours. I made another appointment, BT arrived (after another 5 hour wait). BT refused to fix the line while there was scaffolding. 5 weeks has now passed, scaffolding is now gone and I'm back to square one where TalkTalk are checking the line. The website helpfully tells me to turn off my router for a few seconds - as if that will magically go outside the house and join the two bits of wire together. The worst thing is that you cannot deal directly with BT Openzone who are the ones who have to sort the problem out. Talking to TalkTalk is like having root canal surgery without anaesthetic - only it takes longer.

AWFUL service - Do not use them for anything.
I dealt with TalkTalk about 6 months ago when my Grandma moved from London to Kent. They took advantage of her lack of technical understanding and sold her a new package for her new house (that had not even been built yet). When I realised what they had done, I phoned them to cancel the package. She had already spoken to them to do this and they had told her they had cancelled it (one guy pretended to be a manager when it was clearly still him on the phone).
Turns out, not only had they not cancelled the package at her new home, they had also never cancelled her existing plan at her old address and had in the process, signed up the new tenants to a plan effectively making 2 sales packages.
I launched a huge complaint about this and was assured that her plan would be cancelled at her home address and new address. They didn't actually action this until the second call I made. Whilst this was going on, they'd managed to tell Sky that we were cancelling our package with them as our Grandma was living at our address whilst her home was being built and had taken it upon themselves to try and switch our provider which is illegal. We only found out because Sky called us to ask why we were cancelling our plan.
I requested a refund for the cancelled plan at her old address but instead of this, they forced her to pay charges accumulated for a month when she wasn't there (even though they were being paid by the new tenants) and we never heard back regarding the complaint or receive any compensation.
Totally disgusted at their attitude and way they treated an elderly customer and I would say to anyone, DO NOT USE TALKTALK unless you are happy to be taken for an imbecile or put up with appalling customer service and attempts to charge you unnecessarily. Will not go there near them ever again.

My partner and i signed up to talk talk about 2 and a half months ago,so far we have had 1 months worth of services from them as they sent us broken eqiupment, on my first call to them after waiting on hold for nearly an hour on hold from my mobile, was informed by a guy i could hardly understand that i was going to be charged £50 for a new box, despite wanting to use some foul language at the guy i just hung up cos the guy sounded misserable and i got the feeling he was getting some kind of sattisfaction from this, eventually i got through to somebody about five days later who then booked a guy to come and replace it about a week later, so far we've had about a months services (with only 1 extra add an) to be charged a £177, i fear to god what our bills will be like when our half price 6 months run out. Dont use talk talk!!!!!!

The absolute WORST. It's passable until there's a problem, and then God help you.
I had been with them for two years when a leaflet was dropped through my door advertising fibre optic broadband in the area. Literally the very next day, my broadband speed dropped to slower than dial-up. I tried several smartphones and laptops to test the connection - it took ten minutes for Google to load!
Cue a round of calls, promises of engineer visits (and a charge for an engineer who didn't visit but called me to see if I still wanted him and then cancelled), Kafkaesque telephone conversations with incompetent call centre staff with broken English who made me repeatedly do line tests before telling me there was nothing wrong with the connection, and six weeks of failed engineer visits in the hope of taking them up on their ransom and switching to fibre optic.
After six weeks of this shambolic service, I switched to Virgin Media, nearly wept with relief when a friendly American who wasn't reading from a script picked up the phone at customer service and had fibre optic installed with minimal fuss within two weeks.
The cheeky beggars at TalkTalk attempted to reinstate their direct debit on my account when I told them they could go whistle for any money for a service they failed to provide. I quickly cancelled that. After all, there are no faults on the line. :)

How to describe TalkTalk without having to ask the kids to cover their ears... well, it's almost impossible. I have had internet problems with them for months and all I ever hear is an Indian or Philippine person promising me all will be well once we have gone through some tests, for the millionth time, during this, my millionth call to them. If ever there was a company that make you want to smash up your computer and your phone, this is it!
I have tried everything, writing to them, calling them, online chatting to them... I have tried to complain, close my account with them, change my packages, ask for refunds, discounts and compensation but every time I get nowhere in actually getting the issue fixed. I am either not speaking to the right person or the right department, whoever I speak to, and sometimes they just plain put the phone down on me when they realise they can't help.
A couple of days ago I actually had a service centre person ask me if I'd had lunch and he then proceeded to tell me about how important lunch is, before telling me he needed to transfer me to someone else. I guess he could tell how frustrated I was, although I always remain calm and polite. I have spoken to people in India, the Philippines and, I think, the UK and none of them had an original idea about fixing this issue. I have just been told yet another engineer has been booked. If he actually turn up he will be the 5th one. They all say the same thing; the problem is not at my end. I get the feeling Talktalk support does not keep records of their support requests because it's like starting from scratch with them every time you call.
On their webpage, they have a page that explains how one can complain, but the link on that page that is supposed to take you to an email form actually takes you to their repair page. Typical for them.
I am supposed to be on a discount, but when they sold me that one they forgot to mention that they were now telling me the prices ex. VAT. With VAT I am still paying what I was always paying and I am still getting very slow speed, 2/3 of what I was promised and what I pay for.
I would love to find a different supplier but I am not sure how to cancel my contract with them without incurring ridiculous penalties. If anything, they should give me money back!
To anyone who is considering signing up to Talktalk: I used to sing their praises and they are great as long as you don't have any issues. If you are unlucky and have issues that can't be rectified by a restart of the router or an upgrade of it's software, then forget it.
In summary, Talktalk sell you really really bad service and worse products all based on sweet promises of reasonably priced quality, which they are wholly unable to deliver.
I would not recommend them to anyone. They are entirely incompetent. I know because I work in IT and if I did what they do I'd be out of a job.

Since having talk talk I have lost a number of programmes I loved to watch, (they don't show these channels) but will show one of them IF I pay an extra £5 each time I want yo view it!!! I am changing back to sky as talk talk costs more & my computer is away in the cupboard ax it's a waste of time. The broadband is basically none existent !! Also they have increased bills without telling us & taken money from our bank. When you complain they can't even understand what you are saying & visa versa!!! Worst company I ever dealt with. Two words of advice if you like TV, broadband & phone line packages .....STEER CLEAR OF TALK TALK!!!!! :-((

The broadband was satisfactory for like a year and a half and now the internet had suddenly gone back throughout a few months with an average download on 1.1 mb/s and an upload of 0.773 mb/s but before I would have about 4-5 mb/s on download and 2-4 on upload but lately the internet has just been bad and we phoned up customer service and they said everything was fine then we say people near us getting 8 mb/s download and so on. But we found that the customer service was not too high standard after us calling a few times throughout the past months but they keep on insisting that is was nothing and that our internet was fine but we knew it was not fine then I asked a few people that lived by what their broadband provider was and I just noticed that all the people with a below average speed were people with Talktalk so for that we are most likely going to move to a different provider (most likely BT). A-lot of the time people say it is just because we are in the countryside and that we don't have fibre optic. I would also like to note that the house hold does like the have a-lot of devices on but even when there are only 2 on it is still sluggish and slow Internet. Hope you take this review into account.

My issue isn't entirely with the Broadband itself, just the effort it takes to get it. From the start the salesperson over the phone assured me that the Fibre Large with Plus TV, Broadband and Phone was the only way to get only Broadband and that the phone and TV box are just included. After months of arguing over the useless customer service system, I finally got round to getting the Fibre Large SimplyBroadband. Now, they have charged me £200 for the TV box as it hasn't reached them in time, even though they did confirm that it was in transit to them, so not my fault in any delay in it reaching them. Been one of the most frustrating experiences of my life.

Not really had many problems with TalkTalk. Getting those problems sorted were hard work, poor speed, connection and awful customer service sums em up really. Cheap yes, would I recommend, no. You get what you pay for as they say. Would probably be worth paying a bit more for a better service. The question is though are the other providers really any better ?

Had for a while now, has to be the worst pile of junk ever! My friends always ask me to come online so I do (well atleast for a short period of time) until I get disconnected. To make things even worse, it can't be the fact that my router is out of date or anything because we had a new one fitted only a few months ago. The signal in my area is perfectly fine because of my friends connections and they are all with different service providers. In my advice, if you are ever considering changing networks, NEVER consider this one or if you are getting internet for the first time my advice is the same.

i would not recommend talk talk to any one that's all iv had is trouble from the start i had some one come out to install my wi-fi box and land-line. i had it fitted about 3 weeks ago it has not worked since then, iv range up 9 times now and that all they done is pars me around done nothing about it then they had the cheek to take the money out of my account wen i have not even had no internet connection! i do not feel like they are doing anything about it. im so frustrated and angry i fell like im going around and around. iv asked to opp out of the contract because it hasn't been a month yet but no. pluses because i had some complication at the beginning on singing it up with talk talk the women i spoken to said. Id have a 10 credit on my account to cover my call but as you would guess talk talk do not stick to there word or contracts they have charged me for my calls!

After quite a few years TalkTalk have now lost a customer spending approx. 45 per month. My son bought a new computer costing him 500 pounds. It didnt connect to the wifi so i called their scripted customer helpline. No help at all. I then spoke to a Manager who advised that as other devices worked in my home then it was nothing to do with TalkTalk! I advised them that it was a compatibility issue so needed them to fix it. They sent an engineer who changed the router, the service was still poor, no wi-i for my son and the engineer said if this doesnt work then i cant help! Theyre not interested in existing clients just new ones...so i beg everyone not to go with talktalk. I contacted knowhow who changed the security on my router to allow my son to get access. I then called Sky and they are installing in 10 days! I hate poor service and a disregard for customers. Goodbye Talktalk and good ridence!
